Rats are considered as pests that not only brings disease but also destroys crops. Rats are proliferating in agricultural land in the Philippines specially rice producing provinces. 

So how to control them? Farmers have found a solution, eat them. Rice field rats can be eaten. 

Here is how to prepare Rat Adobo: 

1. Remove the skin of the Rats.

2. Gut the rats and remove the extremities and other organs and wash the meat thoroughly. Rat Adobo, food

3. Add minced garlic and freshly squeezed calamansi juice to neutralize the strong taste of the meat. minced garliccalamansi

4. Marinate the meat with salt, vinegar and soy sauce and leave it for about 30 minutes.

5. Marinade should be washed off in running water and drained thoroughly.

6. Prepare minced garlic, onions and ginger and set aside.
7. Put marinated rat meat in a saucepan, add water and bring to a boil, then remove all the water you used to boil the meat.

8. Add minced garlic, onions, ginger and basil leaf into the pre-cooked meat and stir fry.

9. Then cover pan and let the rat meat boil in its own juice in medium fire, stir occasionally. You may also sear for a bit of dry, well-done adobo touch.

10. Enjoy your Rat Adobo with a cup of steamed rice.
